How do you get people to read more in a world of endless scrolling?
You meet them where they already are—on their phones.

It’s a mobile platform that seamlessly connects users to every library in Poznań, allowing them to explore collections, reserve titles, and borrow books with just a few taps.

Pitch Presentation

In Poland, 64% of people didn’t read a single book last year—a number that hasn’t budged in years. Booka aims to change that by giving users instant, digital access to over 50 libraries across Poznań. With a seamless mobile experience, we're turning passive scrolling into active reading, with a goal of reaching 35,000 engaged users within the next three years.
The Challenge
Modern readers crave immediacy, personalization, and flexibility—but public libraries haven’t kept pace. For many, the idea of borrowing a book still involves clunky catalog systems, limited opening hours, and physical trips that don’t fit into busy, urban lives. Meanwhile, streaming services and social media have mastered engagement, making books feel static and inaccessible by comparison. The real challenge? Creating a library experience that competes with Netflix, not nostalgia.

A User-Centered Approach to Seamless Borrowing
The Booka team led a user-centered design process, starting with desk research, in-depth interviews, persona creation, and journey mapping to uncover key pain points in the library experience. We translated these insights into wireframes, interactive prototypes, and a flexible UI system built for clarity, speed, and personalization. The result is a seamless borrowing experience—designed to reduce friction, encourage exploration, and support diverse reading habits across all user types.
